Middle School/High School PTO
As a parent of a middle or
high school student we know you want to stay involved in your child’s
education. The PTO at the Middle/High School is primarily a service
organization. Due to the large amount of activities, meetings, fundraisers that
are organized for students and parents in these schools, we decided when we
first formed that the meetings and fundraising would be kept to a minimum. The
September Market Day has been generously given to us by the Elementary PTO. We
also participate in the Boston Store Community Day Sales and Target fundraiser.
The proceeds along with donations of talent, treats and time from our
volunteers enable us to support a variety of groups and activities. Below is a
partial list.
·
The senior banquet
is hosted by the MS/HS PTO and the district. The banquet is followed by the
senior awards evening. The meat is catered and the remainder of the meal is
prepared by PTO volunteers. The student’s meals are free and parents/other
guests pay a fee. This evening is a wonderful celebration of our student’s
accomplishments.
·
Teacher
appreciation week. PTO volunteers donate snacks (veggies, fruit, baked goods) for the middle/high school staff during this
week. To help with this activity check either making phone calls and/or
donating snacks on the volunteer sheet.
·
8th
and 10th grade test week snacks. Those who volunteer to donate
snacks and have students in those grades will be asked to provide some snacks
for this long week of testing for your student. We also provide an opportunity
for those with great ambition to coordinate this event. These lucky individuals
will make sure that enough food is provided for each day (making phone calls,
sending emails etc.)
·
Middle school fun
nights (we provide chaperones and donate door prizes.) It is a fun evening with
games, music, food, door prizes, etc. Those who check the chaperone box or
donate door prizes will be called but all parents of middle school students are
welcome and encouraged to attend.
·
Open gyms for high
school students. The open gyms follow basketball or football games. Open gyms
are only possible when we have enough volunteers to organize this event. Anyone
interested in helping coordinate an open gym contact Jackie Schmitt at
schmittj@deerfield.k12.wi.us
·
Funds for teen
topic day for the 6th grade and Senior
topic day in the high school. Bridges to
the Community hosts these two
informative days for our 6th and 12th grade students.
There are speakers covering many topics relevant to students transitioning into
middle school or college. The MS/HS PTO has made a monetary donation each year
to help support this event.
·
Donation to post
prom. The post prom committee does a great job each year planning a lock in
every spring for our junior prom. We are happy to help support this safe
evening for our students.
·
Donate to parent
evenings (speakers etc.) The PTO has been asked in the past to contribute to
other organizations to help fund informative evenings for adults/parents. We
have in the past partnered with the Bridge’s organization to help bring
speakers such as Mike McGowan to our community.
Our
volunteer form is available on this page.
Our first meeting of the 2009/10 school
year was in October
in the middle school commons.
